An exceptionally decorative antique for any financial or law office and a must for fans of financial history, scripophily or Swiss banking history! The Banque Fédérale (Eidgenössische Bank / Federal Bank) was Switzerland's 7th largest private bank. Created in 1863 by the former Swiss Federal Council President, it offered universal banking services including the printing of Swiss banknotes, which was later taken over by the Swiss National Bank. The bank merged with UBS after the war and its original vault built in 1912 by famed Swiss architect Alphonse Laverrière and the Paris locksmithing firm Fichet was miraculously preserved until 2004 in UBS's own vault across the road. The shadow box contains an original door and lock. Each box measures 70x55cm and is only 11cm deep. The boxes are made by a master framer with high quality finish. The top is covered with glass and opens on hinges. |
